The story continues to attract national attention because it’s just so darn quaint. Recent surveys of teenage girls and young women find that roughly 15% of young females today self-identify as lesbian or bisexual, compared with about 5% of young males who identify as gay or bisexual (see note 2, below). Lesbian or bisexual women are no longer as shunned or encouraged to be ashamed. I’m a brunette and very hairy, and my hairs are coarse, so ripping them out is like uprooting a tree trunk.
Why are so many girls lesbian or bisexual?

And of course if a bisexual enters into a long-term relationship with a man, she may appear to other people to be straight, to have abandoned her bisexuality-but that’s the thing about being a bisexual woman; sometimes you fall in love with men! and quite often, those men don’t really want you publicly identifying as bisexual, for a range of reasons (even if it makes you seem sexier to them in private). It is also more difficult for a man to become a social leader, the ultimate attractive trait, while at the same time being gay/bisexual. Iow, i seriously doubt the supposed increased prevalence of girl bisexuals is much more than a fashion statement and a put-on.
